Richard B. "Brad" Powers

Richard B. (Brad) Powers, son of Richard and Janet Powers of Bend, died on January 6, 2014 at his home in Henderson, Nevada, at the age of 48.
Brad lived in Bend from 1997 to 2001, and was the owner and operator of Brads Restaurant and Wine Bar on Oregon Street.
He grew up in northern Virginia, and attended Fairfax County public schools and Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, Virginia. He received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, a law degree from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and a culinary degree from the French Culinary Institute in New York City.
Brad served in the U.S. Army JAG Corps for four years. He was also affiliated with several restaurants in Indianapolis, Seattle, and the Willamette Valley.
Brad was a documentary film maker and had produced The Seattle Pilots, Short Flight into History. He was working on a documentary on the major league baseball strike of 1994, at the time of his death.
In addition to his parents, Brad is survived by his sister, Laurie Powers, of Bethesda, MD, and Rome, Italy.
Private memorial services will be held in Virginia, this spring.
