Two Madras residents were arrested Wednesday afternoon on drug-related charges, authorities said.
Ignacio Ortiz-Ramos, 27, and Toni Smith, 27, were arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of methamphetamine. Ortiz-Ramos was also arrested on suspicion of unlawful delivery and manufacture of methamphetamine.
Ortiz-Ramos had been the subject of an investigation by the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement team for the trafficking of meth in Central Oregon.
At around 3 p.m. Wednesday, police stopped a vehicle that Ortiz-Ramos and Smith were traveling in near Madras. Police found approximately one ounce of methamphetamine on Ortiz-Ramos.
A search at Ortiz-Ramos’ residence resulted in the discovery of two additional ounces of methamphetamine, scales, packaging material and a firearm.
