Chuck Hudson, 80, passed away on Saturday, June 27, in Oregon City. Chuck Hudson taught and coached at Bend High School from 1961-1968. He was the head boys basketball coach, assistant football and track coach. His basketball teams qualified two years for the state basketball tournament. After Chuck left Bend, he became the first Athletic Director at Clackamas Community College. He brought boys football, soccer, boys and girls cross country, tennis, and golf to the athletic program at the college. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Northwest Athletic Directors and at Lewis and Clark College 1950, Track Team where he participated.

Chuck also coached and taught in Milton-Freewater and Ione before coming to Bend. Milton-Freewater was his first teaching and coaching experience. Chuck won the first 8-man football championship in Oregon in 1960, while coaching in Ione (1957-1961). That same school year, he took his 1961 boys basketball team to a second place finish at the state tournament. He was also the head baseball coach.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 9, at 5:00 pm, at the new Oregon City High School Auditorium (19761 S. Beavercreek Road in Oregon City). There will be a reception following.

Chuck's wife of 55 years, Eileen, passed away in 2004. He is survived by his children, Patty & Rich Rolen, The Dalles, Jim and Sharon Hudson, Shelby, North Carolina, Allan & Yvette Hudson, Redmond, Joan & Rich Ferguson, Oregon City. He has 10 grandchildren and one great- grandchild.
