Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette on Wednesday said it will build a new store in Redmond that will be bigger than the city’s current store on U.S. Highway 97, according to a news release.
The nonprofit’s new 25,000-square-foot store should open next spring. Up to 60 percent of the footage will be allocated for the retail floor. The new facility will also contain a job-placement office. The current store, at around 15,000 square feet and approximately 9,000 devoted to retail, opened in 2004, according to The Bulletin’s archives.
Goodwill plans to keep the current store’s 30 or so employees and add 10 to 15 when the new store opens, said spokeswoman Dale Emanuel.
She declined to provide an estimated project cost. Goodwill paid $1.4 million for the four-acre lot for the new store on Northwest Sixth Street.
