Federal firefighting officials decided this morning to delay a prescribed burn scheduled for today south of Arnold Ice Cave.

The burn has been rescheduled for Monday when weather conditions are expected to be more favorable, according to a news release from Central Oregon Fire Management Service.

To reduce potential fuels and improve deer range, land managers want to burn 614 acres located about one-half mile south of the cave, near China Hat Road. The burning could last up to three days and produce smoke columns visible from Bend.
