The Bend Police Department arrested a man they believe is responsible for at least one of two recent hotel stick-ups, and continued on Tuesday to search for a second suspect.

At 8:50 p.m. Monday, police arrested Scott Hilton Sullivan, 32, of Bend, on suspicion of robbing the front desk of the Super 8 Bend early that morning.

Sullivan was located in a vehicle parked outside Rooster Deli at 527 NE Bellevue Drive. He was booked into Deschutes County jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery and second-degree theft, as well as violating parole.

Detectives had earlier served a search warrant on a room at the Shilo Inn in Bend and found evidence connected to the robbery at Super 8, according to spokesman Lt. Clint Burleigh.

Sullivan has numerous felony convictions on his Oregon criminal record dating to 2005, including for possessing heroin and methamphetamine, theft, burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Early Sunday, the Bend Days Inn & Suites at 849 NE Third St. was robbed in a similar manner but by one person.

The Bend Police Department is investigating the possibility the same people are responsible for both robberies, but that isn’t necessarily true, Burleigh said.

“Just because the robberies are similar doesn’t mean the same person did them,” he said.

Burleigh said the department isn’t releasing additional information about the crimes or the second suspect at this time.

“It’s so delicate with an investigation like this,” he said.

The second person is described as being in their 30s and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a dark bandanna and dark jeans.
