A Bend man was arrested Friday for an Aug. 3 motorcycle crash that seriously injured a 10-year-old girl.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on Aug. 3, Bend police responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on OB Riley Road near Firerock Road, according to a police department press release. They found that two people had been riding a 2012 Triumph motorcycle, 38-year-old Matthew Jonathan Lee and a 10-year-old passenger. Lee had minor injuries, and the girl had serious but not life-threatening injuries, according to the press release. Both were wearing helmets.
Witnesses told officers during the subsequent investigation that the motorcycle turned north on OB Riley Road from NE Empire. Those nearby heard the motorcycle accelerate quickly from the intersection just before the crash, according to the press release. Officers required several days to complete the investigation, according to Bend police, but believed from the early stages that alcohol was a contributing factor.
Lee was arrested Friday evening and taken to Deschutes County Jail on charges including DUII, assault, reckless driving and reckless endangering.
