The owner of a dog that fatally attacked a woman’s yellow Labrador at Cline Falls State Park last month contacted law enforcement Friday after seeing an article about the incident.
Seth Collins, 41, of Redmond, told a Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputy he did not know the extent of the other animal’s injuries. His dog, a mastiff/husky mix named Stratos, rushed toward where Crooked River Ranch resident Bobbie Pierson’s yellow Lab, Buttercup, was lying on a riverbank June 22 and began to attack it. Collins’ other dog, a border collie, watched but was not involved in the attack.
Collins told the deputy he broke up the fight and left with his dogs to avoid a confrontation. Pierson took Buttercup to a veterinary clinic, and the dog died later that night.
Collins received citations for having an animal at large and an animal nuisance.
