A 50-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after a more than three-hour standoff with police at the Super 8 on SE Third Street in Bend.
Motel staff called 911 about 2 p.m. when Todd Pirochta called to them from his motel room, according to a news release from Bend Police.
Pirochta said he was armed and on his way to kill employees at the motel. Officers arrived and motel guests were evacuated; more police were called in.
After negotiations, Pirochta was taken into custody by about 5:15 p.m. No weapon was found, the news release said.
Pirochta was arrested on suspicion of first-degree disorderly conduct, menacing, interfering with a police officer and telephonic harassment.
He is not a Bend resident, but where he is from was not available.
The Central Oregon Emergency Response Team, along with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Redmond Police, Deschutes County Behavioral Health, the Prineville Police Department and Bend Fire Department also assisted in resolving the standoff.
