Documents describe inmate-worker trysts

HILLSBORO — A Washington County jail worker supervising a housing unit repeatedly let an inmate out of his cell to have sex with him in a supply closet, according to court documents.

An affidavit made public Wednesday shows investigators have video of Jill Curry, 38, and the inmate entering the closet, The Oregonian reported.

The affidavit says Curry had sex with the inmate on six occasions from May to July.

Investigators turned up the video evidence after they got a report Curry had talked about having sex with him, the documents say. The person who made that report was not identified. Curry was arrested July 16.

This week, another jail-service technician, Brett Robinson, 32, was accused of having sex with the same inmate. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department says neither woman knew about the other’s contact with the inmate.

Sheriff Pat Garrett said both women were working in the jail’s maximum security unit, and he was dismayed about the arrests.

“They didn’t cross the line; they torched it,” Garrett told The Oregonian.

More “strategically placed” cameras have been installed at the jail, he said. More security improvements are expected.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police are conducting criminal investigations. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office will also conduct internal inquiries.

Jail-services technicians work at parts of the jail in downtown Hillsboro that include booking, inmate units and the control center.

Both women are on unpaid administrative leave. Curry has worked for the sheriff’s office since 2004; Robinson started with the agency last year.
