McKenzie Pass Highway reopens after sinkhole filled

The McKenzie Pass Highway has been reopened to two lanes of traffic after a sinkhole was filled, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Known officially as Oregon Highway 242, the road was reduced to one lane of traffic earlier today about eight miles west of the Dee Wright Observatory after the hole was discovered.

It measured 4 feet wide by 4 feet long and 3 feet deep, Rick Little, an ODOT spokesman said.

Motorists should continue to reduce speed in the area and drive with caution, ODOT advises.
