PORTLAND — Police officials say they are treating the shooting outside of a strip club here as a homicide after one of the five injured victims has died.

Officials say in a statement that the victim died after being transported to an area hospital from the Soobie’s Bar & Grill Strip Club early Saturday. The deceased is a 26-year-old male.

Police say four other victims — men and women in their 20s and 30s — have injuries that are not life-threatening and are expected to recover.

The victims were not identified Saturday afternoon.

Police say the shooting was gang-related and most likely happened in the club’s parking lot, but they did not immediately offer any information on possible suspects.

Government Island stabbing

Separately, authorities say three men suffered multiple stabbing wounds, with one sustaining serious injuries, at a large dance party on Government Island.

Emergency personnel from multiple agencies responded to the island Saturday at about 1:45 a.m. on a report of a fight in progress.

Rescuers located the three victims in a crowd of nearly 1,000 people partying to a DJ. The victims were transported off the island by boat and taken to an area hospital. Two of the victims are considered in stable condition.

Brandon Richard Cullen, of Wilsonville, has been charged with three counts of first-degree felony assault.

The island belongs to the Port of Portland but is run by the state parks department.
