The owners of Bend Brewing Company announced today they bought the lot adjacent to their NW Brooks Street brewpub and plan to turn it into a beer garden by spring 2017.
Packy Deenihan, president and co-owner of the company since Jan. 1, said the transaction closed Monday. The lot, empty for 10 years, stretches from NW Brooks Street to Mirror Pond. Deenihan declined to say what the company paid for the property. Deenihan said he envisions an open space with an area for live music.
Bend Brewing Co. was purchased by Deenihan, formerly of Denver, his wife, Leslie Deenihan, and father, Edward Deenihan, from Wendi Day, daughter of brewery co-founder Jerry Fox.
The brewpub opened a revamped taproom on the Brooks Street side of the pub on July 1.
