Record numbers visit Crater Lake
Crater Lake National Park saw more visitors in 2015 than in any year since the park began closely tracking visitors 25 years ago.
Park officials counted 664,000 visitors, up 13.5 percent from 2014, according to a news release from the national park.
The increase was due, in part, to the low snowpack last winter; the park was able to open roads and facilities earlier in the spring than usual, according to the release.
Visitor numbers at Crater Lake tracked with the National Park system as a whole, where a total of 305 million visitors in 2015 topped the record set the year before.
