MLS All-Stars to face Bayern Munich — The 2014 Major League Soccer All-Star game will be against legendary German club Bayern Munich, the reigning European and Bundesliga champions. The All-Star game will be played in August at Jeld-Wen Field, home of the Portland Timbers.

Former OSU All-American Didion dies at 66 — John Didion, a former All-America football player at Oregon State who also played in the NFL, died Tuesday in Portland after suffering a heart attack. Didion starred as a center at OSU, where he lettered three years (1966-68) and earned All-America honors in 1967 and 1968. A member of Oregon State’s “Giant Killers” team in 1967, Didion went on to play professionally for the Washington Redskins (1969-70) and the New Orleans Saints (1970-74). In 1991, he was inducted into the Oregon State University Sports Hall of Fame. He is currently a nominee for the College Football Hall of Fame.

Rangers draft Seahawks QB Russell Wilson — Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has been selected by the Texas Rangers from the Colorado Rockies in the Triple-A portion of baseball’s winter meeting draft on Thursday. Wilson, who played minor league baseball for parts of two seasons before becoming an NFL star, will be placed on Texas’ restricted list. In two seasons at the Class A level he hit .229 with five homers and 26 RBIs.
