David Ryan Harris has built his career on collaboration, earning his stripes by touring with John Mayer and co-writing songs with Nick Jonas, Guy Sebastian and India Arie. The singer-guitarist returned to Mayer’s touring band this year after a long absence, even as his solo career continues to ramp up following his 2015 album “Lightyears.” On this year’s seven-song “Songs For Other People,” Harris ties together both sides of his musical personality: The material was co-written with various other songwriters over the years and originally earmarked for other artists before Harris decided to give them a go himself. The results are typically genre-busting, ranging from the power-pop of “Good” to the soulful, lost-love story “Coldplay,” which references a certain popular British band. Harris returns to the Astro Lounge on Monday with Hawaiian songwriter Justin Kawika Young.
