Bend museum names leader

Dana Whitelaw becomes president of High Desert Museum

The High Desert Museum has named Dana Whitelaw as its new president, effective immediately.

Formerly vice president of programs at the museum, Whitelaw replaces Janeanne Upp, who retired in December.

Whitelaw, who has a Master of Science degree and a doctorate in biological anthropology from the University of Colorado, started as a grant writer for the museum in 2008. She spent eight years teaching in the anthropology department at the University of Colorado and conducting research in Madagascar before moving to Bend, where she lives with her husband and two children.
