For years, a cadre of local musicians and Neil Young-o-philes have been gathering each November to celebrate the Canadian God of Flannel’s birthday by reaching into his infinity pool of amazing songs and playing a few for fun. They call it The Church of Neil.
It was always sort of an underground thing, held somewhat in secret and never publicized.
This year, though, is different. This year, organizers have not only emailed me about it, but they’ve created a Facebook Event for the show! So you know it’s real.
Anyway, congregants at this year’s service include Doc Ryan&One Night Only, the Travis Ehrenstrom Group, Anastacia, Leif James, Rural Demons, Moondog Matinee, Joe Leonardi, Ken Czepelka, Felly Smith, Mark Ransom&The Mostest and more. All ages are welcome, and proceeds will benefit Rise Up International.
