1. Don’t be rude about the food. No shudders, no gags. Just say, “No, thank you,” and leave it at that.
2. Be honest. I know this is difficult, but bringing picky eating into the open can reduce your stress.
3. Offer to bring a dish. Your host might welcome your offer to take some of the pressure off him or her, and you will be certain to have something to eat.
4. Eat before the event. Rather than fret over whether there will be anything you can eat at the party, plan to grab a bite beforehand.
