SALEM — The man who opened fire on three men in a Salem park in 2009 was sentenced Monday to life in prison.

Lorenzo Garcia-Ceja, 21, won’t be eligible for parole until he’s 60.

The Statesman Journal reported Garcia-Ceja pleaded guilty to murder in the death of 21-year-old Montez Bailey, of Salem, and pleaded no contest to attempted murder for wounding two of Bailey’s friends in Northgate Park.

Garcia-Ceja fled to Mexico after the shooting and was arrested in 2010. He fought extradition but was returned to Salem last March for prosecution.
