Obama shops on Small Business Saturday

ARLINGTON, Va. — President Barack Obama took his daughters, Sasha and Malia to a Virginia bookstore for some Christmas shopping Saturday. The White House says Obama was promoting an effort called “Small Business Saturday” to encourage shoppers to patronize mom-and-pop businesses after Thanksgiving.

Last year, more than 100 million Americans shopped at small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, according to the U.S. government. The next big holiday shopping day is tomorrow’s Cyber Monday.
