“The Maverick’s Ready-Made Family” by Brenda Harlen (Harlequin, $4.99)

This long-standing, endless series provides yet another Thunder Canyon romance. Those who have been following the love lives of the Traubs and other Thunder Canyon families will enjoy meeting another Traub cousin/brother, Clay.

Clay recently found out that he had a son from a short-lived, no-strings affair. He instantly becomes a devoted, single dad.

When he arrives in Thunder Canyon, he’s immediately attracted to his landlady, Antonia. But when he discovers she’s pregnant, he adamantly refuses to believe there can be any future between them.

This is the sort of story you’d expect from a Harlequin Special Edition offering; long on romance, perhaps a bit corny, and short on anything else.
