The Bend Spay and Neuter Project and Bend Pet Express are currently seeking cat and dog food donations for their new HOPE (Help Our Pets Eat) Pet Food Bank.

The food bank will be open to qualified clients the first Saturday of each month. The first event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon April 6 at the Westside Bend Pet Express.

In order to qualify, clients must be receiving some form of government assistance and show proof of this or be within the income guidelines for Deschutes Housing Works, according to the organizers. Clients do not need to bring their pets to the food bank to receive assistance.

Donations of cat and dog food can be dropped off at both Bend Pet Express locations and at the Bend Spay and Neuter Project. Businesses interested in collecting food and hosting a donation box should contact the Bend Spay and Neuter Project.
