Feb. 7, 1937 - Mar. 20, 2013
Robert (Bob) Miller, a long time resident of Madras, Oregon, passed away March 20, 2013, with his family by his side.
A Celebration of Life Service was held Sunday March 24, 2013 at Carey Foster Hall at the Prineville Fairgrounds.
Bob was born in Talent, Oregon February 7, 1937 to his parents, Elmer and Myrtle Miller. The Millers moved to Madras in the 1940s, and Bob graduated from Madras High School in 1955. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sarah; daughter, Kristy Miller; son and daughter-in-law, Kelly & Beth Miller; grandsons, Gavin Romanick, Preston Romanick and his wife, Jenny; great-grandchildren, Lane and Tylie; and sister and brother-in-law, Marcy and Ron Tonkin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Myrtle; and his son, Michael Miller.
Bob was loved by all, and never met a stranger; everyone who touched his life was considered family.
He was on the initial construction team that built the Round Butte Dam, and then moved on to work at Portland General Electric (PGE) from 1962, retiring in 1992. In his younger years, Bob was involved in rodeos as a saddle bronc rider, pickup man and stock contractor. Upon retiring from PGE, his passion for horses, rodeo and ranching kept him very busy. He toured Central Oregon as a part-time brand inspector, and had the opportunity to see old acquaintances and meet new friends. Over the past few years, Bob enjoyed spending the winters in Arizona, roping with the Bains.
Memorial donations may be made at South Valley Bank under the Bob Miller Memorial Fund. Services are being provided by Bel-Air Funeral Home in Madras, Oregon.
