Jan. 30, 1920 - Mar. 17, 2013

A loving tribute to our father and husband, Otto Joseph Vondrak, Sr., who passed away March 17, at the age of 93. He lived a full life with integrity, compassion for others, love for his family and a sense of always knowing who he was and never wavering from that position.

Otto was born to Czech immigrant parents in New York City and was a true patriot who served his country in the China India Burma Campaign as a bomber pilot in WWII. He still kept in touch with remaining members and families from his squadron.

His marriage of almost 66 years, is a daily inspiration to us in our marriages and his love for our mother, Charlotte Petree Vondrak, was unsurpassed. Otto raised us with values that have served us well throughout our lives, values that we have tried to pass along to our children. He left quietly without suffering or lingering and we know he is at peace.

Ottos career in the aluminum industry took him from New York to several other states and overseas to Germany, Sardinia, Bahrain, New Zealand and Australia.

He and our mother made friends wherever they went and brought us up with a love of travel and an understanding for different cultures. Otto and Charlotte retired and lived in Sunriver, Oregon for 20 years and have lived at Touchmark in Bend, for the past eight.

Otto leaves behind his wife, Charlotte; and children, Charlotte (husband, Robert) Sproul, Joe (wife, Wendy) Vondrak and John (wife, Karen) Vondrak; as well as five grandchildren, Carly, Nicholas, Tyler, Ben and Alexa. Otto is also survived by his sister, Edith Schwartz.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Habitat for Humanity, Newberry Chapter or Sunriver Christian Fellowship. Rest in peace, Otto.
