Problem is spending, not taxes

Is there no end to the greed of our public officials? On Feb. 7, a front-page article reported raising hotel taxes. Then one week later, an article says hotel taxes were up 12 percent last year and another 8 percent this year. Gosh, Councilor Mark Capell, you might understand why some from the hospitality industry are downright “uncivilized.” Why is it that government officials from all levels — local, state and federal — think that raising taxes is the answer to all our problems? Vote them out and keep voting them out until we get officials who understand our problem is spending, not taxes.
