Dean George Sporrer

June 3, 1930 - March 19, 2013

Dean or ”Buck”, as he was known by family and friends, was born in Seneca, South Dakota on June 3, 1930, to Florence and Joe Sporrer. Buck passed peacefully at home with his family at his side, and with the exceptional support and care of Partners in Care hospice nurses.

Buck served as a medic in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952. After his discharge, he began a multitude of careers which included logging, long haul truck driver, iron worker and heavy equipment mechanic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the occasional casino trip with his wife, Betty.

Buck was preceded in death by his children, Dephane and Rodney Sporrer; and his siblings, Delores, Darlene, Donna, Dewayne and Dale. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Sporrer; their children, Renee Haney, Kathy Wilson, and Daniel Sporrer; multiple grandchildren; and his siblings, Dephane and David.

Buck was a loving and generous man who will be missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the Saint Francis ”Historic” Church, located at the corner of Franklin & Lava in downtown Bend, Oregon. Coffee and refreshments will be served after mass at the faith development wing of the ”New” Saint Francis Church, located at 2450 NE 27th St., in Bend.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Saint Francis Catholic School, or Partners in Care Hospice, both of Bend.
