Joseph Vann Pinz Sr., of Prine-ville, died Friday. He was 83.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Portland. Pastor Stan Aufderheide will officiate.

Mr. Pinz was born Oct. 17, 1924, in Meadow, Texas, the son of Ralph and Jaunita (Vann) Williamson. He graduated from high school in California. He married Diane (Bartholomaus) Albers on March 6, 1976, in Portland.

Mr. Pinz served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He owned and operated Roseway Barber Shop in Portland. He was a member of an Elks Lodge in Portland. He enjoyed sports, playing cards, bowling, travel and spending time with family.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph Jr. and Marty, both of Portland; four stepsons, Chris, Vince and Joe Albers, and Johnny Martin; a daughter, Anita Jo Lee, of Prineville; a stepdaughter, June Berry; a brother, Bud; a sister, Joyce Ross; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers.
