Listen to Arlo Guthrie share the true story of a memorable Thanksgiving at Alice’s Restaurant today, as local radio station KPOV rebroadcasts the folk singer’s live concert from Bend High School in 2008.
KPOV 88.9 FM, Bend’s nonprofit, volunteer-run radio station, will air the three-hour concert twice today, at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The broadcast will include reminiscences by those who attended the concert and commentary by KPOV volunteers.
In it, Guthrie sang his most famous song and tale of 1965’s Thanksgiving, “Alice’s Restaurant.” The son of Woody Guthrie, Arlo Guthrie also performs a number of his father’s songs, renditions of classics like “City of New Orleans” and originals like “The Motorcycle Song.”
