Montana Silk Marlatt: Marlatt faces charges of murder and first-degree manslaughter, for allegedly killing Devon Moschetti, 19, with whom he was shooting targets in April.Marlatt has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently being held in the Jefferson County jail.Marlatt is expected to go to trial on Sept. 9.
Kevin O'Connell: The former Bulletin employee was arrested in August on suspicion of prostitution and second-degree sex abuse.O'Connell pleaded not guilty March 18. O'Connell is expected to go to trial on Aug. 13.
Kevin and Tami Sawyer: The Sawyers were charged with a variety of financial crimes stemming from allegedly bilking real estate investors out of more than $4.4 million.
In a separate case, Tami Sawyer is charged with theft and criminal mistreatment charges stemming from business dealings with an elderly man who put her in charge of his trust shortly before his death in 2009.The pair were sentenced on April 30 in federal court in Eugene. Kevin Sawyer was sentenced to 27 months in prison, while Tami Sawyer was sentenced to nine years in federal prison.The Sawyers have appealed their sentences and are currently housed in separate federal prisons.
Tami Sawyer's theft case is still open, but no new hearings have been set.

Luke Wirkkala: Wirkkala is charged with one count of murder after he allegedly shot and killed his houseguest, 31-year-old David Ryder, Feb. 4 in Bend. Wirkkala pleaded not guilty on June 7 and is being held in the Deschutes County jail. Wirkkala's trial is scheduled for Jan. 7, and a hearing to set bail in his case is set for Sept. 16.
Lawrence Loeffler: Loeffler is charged with one count of murder after he allegedly shot and killed his wife of 39 years, 83-year-old Betty Jane Loeffler, in a January domestic dispute at their home outside La Pine.Loeffler pleaded not guilty on April 2 and is being held in the Deschutes County jail.Loeffler is expected to go to trial on Sept. 17.
Kevin Perry: Perry shot and killed Shane Munoz in June 2012, after Perry allegedly returned home to find Munoz in his home.The Deschutes County District Attorney's Office asked the Bend Police Department in April to re-examine the events surrounding the case. According to an email, the DA's office considers the case “open indefinitely.” No charges have been filed or arrests made.
Summit 1031: Local company allegedly misappropriated $44 million in client funds; it filed for bankruptcy in 2008. Three executives of the company, Lane Lyons, Mark Neuman and Timothy Larkin, went on trial in June, and a jury found all three guilty of wire fraud and conspiracy charges. The trio are scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 23.
Desert Sun Management: Thirteen employees and associates were accused of multimillion-dollar loan fraud in 2009.All but two charged in the case, including Desert Sun President Tyler Fitzsimons, have pleaded guilty. One, Kevin Mandlin, was sentenced to one year of probation this month. Eight charged in the case are to be sentenced in October.
