A man who became wedged between two rocks while inner tubing on the Deschutes River was rescued Friday afternoon by Redmond Fire & Rescue and Deschutes County Search & Rescue.
Duncan Girard, 34, of Redmond, was tubing with Troy Monroe, 48 and also of Redmond, when Girard fell off his tube where the river passes through the Odin Falls Ranch subdivision north of Redmond. Girard got stuck between two rocks and was struggling to keep his head above water.
Monroe called 911 at around 2:50 p.m., and rescue personnel began arriving. Redmond Fire & Rescue paramedics reached Girard first and lifted him on to a dry rock. Search & Rescue swimmers brought him a flotation device with an attached harness, and helped Girard to shore with a line.
Girard was escorted up a nearby cliff, treated for minor injuries, and released.
