A woman on a bicycle was struck by a car Thursday morning, incurring nonlife-threatening head injuries, according to Bend Police.

Laurel M. Brauns, 35, of Bend, was riding south on Northwest Broadway Street shortly before 11 a.m. when she apparently failed to stop at the stop sign at Northwest Colorado Avenue. The driver of a westbound Volkswagen Jetta, Gretchen R. Barnett, of Bend, was unable to stop before colliding with Brauns.

Brauns was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. She was cited on suspicion of disobeying a stop sign, and transported to St. Charles Bend for evaluation.
