The culinary tour and catering company The Well Traveled Fork is offering a new outing that focuses on locally produced fermented beverages and food.
“Fermentation is the magical preservation process that transforms ordinary ingredients into the extraordinary beer, wine, spirits, kombucha, breads, sausages and cheeses that we so love,” Bette Fraser, chef and owner of The Well Traveled Fork, said in a press release.
During the tour, people will learn about the chemical process “that has been a staple of human nutrition since the dawn of humanity,” according to the press release. Guests can choose to spend the entire tour focused on local craft breweries, or they can visit a range of businesses that rely upon fermentation, including a winery, kimchi producer and bakery. The tours will include tips and techniques for people to incorporate beneficial fermented foods and drinks into their diets.
Tours last 2.5 to three hours, and cost $55 per person. For more information, visit www.welltrav eledfork.com/fermentation_tour.asp.
