Bend’s Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe will host the Pickin’ and Paddlin’ Music Seriesfrom 4 to 7 tonight.
The event will include live music, food and boat demos on the lawn behind the store along the banks of the Deschutes River.
One of the primary goals of the series is to raise money and awareness about the safety hazards of the Colorado Dam and its much-needed improvements, according to event organizers. The Bend Paddle Trail Alliance is working with other groups to transform the dam into a public whitewater park.
Tonight’s event is part of the Subaru of Bend Outside Games. The music starts at 5 p.m. with Bend singer-songwriter Laurel Brauns, and continues at 7 p.m. with bluegrass band Pitchfork Revolution.
Future dates are July 25, Aug. 29 and Sept. 19.
