Beginning Sunday, the Third Street underpass will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. for three consecutive nights as work begins to correct frequent flooding there, according to the city of Bend.
Project engineer Eric Forster said Jack Robinson and Sons, general contractor for the project, will take the three nights to survey and pothole the area.
Starting July 7, the underpass will close again from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. to start extensive work on the stormwater drainage system to prevent flooding and groundwater contamination. Forster said the project is expected to take 60 days.
Forster said the primary detour will take commuters to Franklin Avenue, Ninth Street and Wilson Avenue. The route will be signed.
