The nonprofit Bend Spay and Neuter Project will offer free veterinary care for pets of homeless military veterans on Sunday. This is the first such event organized by Central Oregon Veterans Outreach, along with Bend Spay and Neuter Project and local businesses.
Bend Pet Express, the Humane Society of Central Oregon and Ruffwear donated vaccinations, pet food, collars, toys and treats for the event, according to a news release from the spay and neuter group. Bend Spay and Neuter Project will provide free spay and neuter surgeries, plus microchips for all pets. The nonprofit will also provide Deschutes County dog licenses, although it is still raising funds to cover the cost. The event starts at 8 a.m. Sunday at Bend Spay and Neuter Project, 910 S.E. Wilson Ave., Bend. For more information, call 541-617-1010.
