Bret Biedscheid is charged with criminally negligent homicide and failure to perform the duties of a driver in connection with the hit-and-run death of Tony Martin in January 2011.Biedscheid pleaded not guilty in April 2011. Biedscheid is expected to go to trial on June 11.

Lawrence Loeffler is charged with one count of murder after he allegedly shot and killed his wife of 39 years, 83-year-old Betty Jane Loeffler, in a January domestic dispute at their home outside La Pine.Loeffler pleaded not guilty on April 2 and is in the Deschutes County jail.Loeffler is expected to go to trial on Sept. 17.
Kevin Perry shot and killed Shane Munoz in June 2012, after Perry allegedly returned home to find Munoz in his home.The Deschutes County District Attorney's Office asked the Bend Police Department last month to re-examine the events surrounding the case. According to an email, the DA's office considers the case “open indefinitely.” No charges have been filed or arrests made.
Summit 1031 Local company allegedly misappropriated $44 million in client funds. Filed for bankruptcy in 2008. Four executives of the company were charged in federal court. Brian D. Stevens pleaded guilty and is serving time in prison in Sheridan. Lane Lyons, Mark Neuman and Timothy Larkin have pleaded not guilty. Trial is set in federal court for June.
Desert Sun Management Thirteen employees and associates were accused of multimillion-dollar loan fraud in 2009.Ten of those charged with federal crimes, including Desert Sun President Tyler Fitzsimons, have pleaded guilty. Two more are due to stand trial in June, and another has a status conference in July. Nine are to be sentenced in July.
