A snowy highway contributed to a two-vehicle crash this morning near La Pine that left two people trapped in their car, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.
La Pine firefighters freed Stanley Stolp, 68, and Linda Stolp, 65, from a 2002 black Toyota Tundra on U.S. Highway 97 near milepost 160 around 8:40 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office. The pair were treated at St. Charles Medical Center, Bend, for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Stanley Stolp lost control of the Toyota on northbound U.S. 97, crossed into the southbound lane and struck a 1977 white Chevrolet Nova driven by Laura Moulden, 32, of Redmond. Moulden was not injured in the crash.
U.S. 97 was closed for a short time while the Stolps were freed; traffic was diverted to La Pine State Rec Road.
