It’s a federal highway

Dear fellow Bendites: I think that some are forgetting why we have U.S. Highway 97, which bisects Oregon.

This major federal highway used to connect businesses as well as handle huge trucks and commerce of all kinds between Klamath Falls and the Columbia River.

How foolish and self-centered we are to think that, in order for a few businesses to be more accessible, we drag all of Central Oregon’s through traffic (north/south) onto yet another “Third Street.”

This is a national-federal highway — not just another “through street”!
