Betty Joan Kregar of Bend passed away January 30, 2013 at the age of 81 in the peaceful hands of Hospice House into the welcoming arms of her Lord & Savior. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church for nearly
a half- century. The Altar Guild, training of church acolytes, Head to Heart for young girls, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, a Grief Share Chapter, feeding the parochial school staff, and the Lutheran Womens Missionary League were among her many favorite mission outreaches.
Born Feb. 8, 1931, to Glen Donald & Henrietta (Claussen) Stumpff in Dodge City, KS, she married Harry Edmund Kregar at Holy Cross Lutheran Church,, Dodge City, Sept. 2, 1951. Harry passed away in 2003 in Bend.
They were a very well known Bend couple, having owned and operated the Country Store Health Foods, first in the Safeway Mall, then on 3rd and Greenwood, moving later ato South 97 ”at the underpass.” Harry and Betty, a certified Nutritionist, were loved by many, dispensing health and nutrition counseling. They remained outstanding local merchants in the community for five decades. With Harrys passing, Betty and her sons continued to operate the Country Store for three years.
She is survived by her son, David (Linda) Kregar, Bend, OR; sister, Donna (Chuck) Boyd, Camas, WA; granddaughter, Amy (Josh) Snyder, Beverly Hills, CA; grandson, K.C. (Tara) Kregar, Manokotak, AK; great-grandchildren, Boaz Snyder and Aurora Dawn Kregar; nephew, Mark (Tricia) Boyd, Ft. Worth, TX); niece, Carolyn Wagner, Portland, OR; great-nephews and nieces, Jake, Joseph and Grace Wagner, Alicia and Spencer Boyd. Blessed by her enormous faith are her godchildren, Bryan Reck, Bend; Mark & Kevin Boyd, and Belinda Wilmarth of Boise, ID.
She was preceded in death by beloved husband, Harry; son, Scott Allen Kregar; nephew Kevin Boyd, and his wife, Catherine; and nephew-in-law, Mike Wagner.

A Homegoing Memorial Service and luncheon will be held Sunday, Feb. 10, 1:00 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2550 NE Butler Market Rd., Bend.
