The Deschutes Land Trust will host its winter Nature Nights series, starting tonight with the “Pole Creek Fire Recovery” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Bend’s Century Center.
Last year’s Pole Creek Fire blanketed Central Oregon in smoke and burned nearly 27,000 acres in the headwaters of Whychus Creek.
Sisters Ranger District ecologist Maret Pajutee will present an armchair tour of the Pole Creek Fire and discuss the lessons learned from 10 years of large fires in Sisters, including how creeks like Whychus and its surrounding forest will one day return.
