PRINEVILLE — Four days after winning the 4A classification of the Oregon Wrestling Classic, outscoring opponents 386-53 in the process, Crook County returned to the mat, defeating La Pine 78-0 and Ridgeview 71-6.

“These are two young teams,” Cowboys coach Jake Huffman said of the Hawks and Ravens. “Sometimes it’s hard to gauge yourself against them. Overall, though, I think it went well. It’s a good tune-up for us.”

Crook County, which competes at the Reser’s Tournament of Champions in Hillsboro on Friday and Saturday, saw Ryder Shinkle (145 pounds) and Jason Williams (285) record pins in each dual, as the Cowboys accumulated 12 falls total, including seven against La Pine.

The lone points against host Crook County came at 182 pounds, when Ridgeview’s Boomer Fleming pinned Dean Blasius in 3 minutes, 42 seconds.

The Ravens get back to work on Saturday, when they compete at the Madras Invitational. La Pine hosts Summit in a dual next Thursday.
