Highlights

Emo-pop-rock show at Sound Garden

Fans of buzzy emo-pop-rock don't have a ton of chances to take in that kind of music in Central Oregon. Which means they should not skip The Sound Garden's show on Sunday, when two SoCal bands roll into town to plug in and pogo into the wee hours. The bill includes Falling Awake from Orange County and The Dares from L.A., pictured, both of whom sound like they were raised on a steady diet of Green Day, Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World, Saves the Day, The Get Up Kids, and on and on. Hooks for days and haircuts that make you go, 'Hmm…” is what we're talking about here. Details below.

Lauren Kershner visits Silver Moon

Local pianist and singer-songwriter Lauren Kershner will showcase her debut single, “Snow Angel,” during a release party next week at Bend's Silver Moon Brewing & Taproom. Raised in Central Oregon, Kershner has been singing and writing songs since she was young; more recently, she's won a handful of songwriting awards and played all over the region. And she's only 22! Check her out Thursday, when she plans a night of acoustic piano originals and covers, plus CD giveaways and a raffle. And sample “Snow Angel” at Kershner's website, www.laurenkershner.com. Details below.
