5 p.m. on ESPN, “NBA Basketball” — A clash of likely Eastern Conference playoff teams comes tonight at Madison Square Garden, where Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks face a team they’ll likely have to beat come spring, Luol Deng and the Chicago Bulls. After that, it’s a big Western Conference showdown at Staples Center as Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder visit Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers.
7:50 p.m. on MAX, Movie: “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” — Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are back as Holmes and Dr. Watson, again directed by Guy Ritchie, in this enjoyable 2011 sequel that pits the sleuths against their ultimate nemesis: Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris). He has his hand in tragedies around the world, and once Holmes puts the puzzle together, he crosses Europe to stop Moriarty.
8 p.m. on TCM, Movie: “The Great Race” — Director Blake Edwards (‘‘The Pink Panther’’) made one of his first forays into slapstick with this breezy, big-budget and star-packed 1965 comedy that follows the heroic and white-clad The Great Leslie (Tony Curtis) as he vies against sinister Professor Fate (Jack Lemmon) in a wacky 1908 car race from New York to Paris.
8:31 p.m. on ^ ), “Malibu Country” — At Kim’s (Sara Rue) baby shower, Reba (Reba McEntire) says some unkind words about the guest of honor, not realizing that Sage (Hudson Thames), Kim’s stepson, is shooting a video of the event.
