A single-family home in La Pine is a total loss following a Sunday fire, according to Mike Supkis with the La Pine Rural Fire Protection District.
Fire crews were dispatched to the 52000 block of Shady Lane at approximately 5:14 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters from LPRFD and the Department of Forestry arrived within 10 minutes of the 911 call. The home was fully involved when fire crews arrived, according to a news release from Supkis.
“The home was a total loss and firefighters worked 3 1/2 hours to contain and mop up the fire,” Supkis said in the news release. “Firefighters were able to protect a nearby shop, vehicles, a fence and neighboring properties.”
The property is located near a forested area, and fire crews were also able to keep the fire from spreading into the nearby trees.
Crews transported 19,000 gallons to the scene because there were no fire hydrants in the area.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but there were no obvious suspicious causes at the time of the news release.
