Loran Duane Poage of Redmond, Oregon, died October 7, 2013, at the age of 84.
Loran was born September 5, 1929, in Denver, Colorado to Vernon and Arba (Davis) Poage. Loran joined the US Air Force and served his country for four years. He was stationed in Japan during the Korean War.
On December 7, 1963, Loran married Carolyn Mary Sheridan. They resided in California and Moses Lake, WA before settling in Central Oregon 36 years ago. Loran worked as a farmer while living in Washington and found a true passion for horse ranching after they moved to Central Oregon.
After retiring, Loran found a great interest in sports and became a huge fan. He and Carolyn were members of St. Francis Catholic church while living in Bend, and then St. Thomas, after moving to Redmond.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen (Tony) Kuper; grandchildren, Kayla (Jake) Starmer, Emily and Anthony.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Poage on October 28, 2007.
A rosary will be held Friday October 11, 2013, at 9:15 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church with a funeral mass to follow at 10:00 a.m., burial at Deschutes Memorial Gardens will follow.
