A rundown of games and events to watch for locally and regionally from the world of sports:

Tuesday-Sunday

Men’s college basketball, NCAA tournament.: March Madness is here. The tournament kicks off with four automatic qualifiers and the last four at-large bids playing first-round games on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (games aired on TruTV). The second- and third-round games take place Thursday through Sunday, with games aired on CBS, TBS, TNT and TruTV.

Wednesday

Track and field, five-team meet at Summit High, 3:30 p.m.: The Storm, who are the reigning 5A boys and girls state champions, open the 2013 season on their own track. Sisters, Ridgeview, Gilchrist and La Pine are also expected at the meet.

Thursday

Golf, Crooked River Ranch Invitational, noon: The first major high school boys tournament of the season includes Summit, Bend, Mountain View, Redmond, Ridgeview and Sisters.

Saturday

Nordic skiing, Cascade Crest, Mt. Bachelor ski area, 10 a.m.: It will be spring in Central Oregon by the weekend, but there are still winter sports events on the calendar. There are two freestyle races — 15K and 25K — on long, single-loop courses inside and outside of the Bachelor trail system. Visit www.mbsef.org for more information. This week you can also take advantage of grooming being done on the Todd Lake Trail as a course preview, according to MBSEF’s website.

Sunday

Running, Sunriver Mudslinger Mud Run, 11 a.m.: With “mud" in the title of this event twice, we’re guessing you’ll get dirty if you do it. The untimed event starts near Sunriver Marina and features a 1.5-mile course in which participants scramble over and under obstacles and through mud pits. Visit www.sunrivermudslinger.com for more information.
