Learn the ways of the Legislature

The Oregon Association of Area Agencies on Aging and Disabilities will hold two training sessions that will teach individuals how they can interact with the legislative process and advocate for the needs of seniors and the disabled. Citizens from all over the state are encouraged to attend.

• Advocacy 101: This one-day workshop will look at ways people can build relationships with their legislators, deliver their message and make a change in the legislative process. It costs $25 and will take place in Salem on Jan. 23.

• Legislative Boot Camp: This one-day workshop will look into the details of the legislative process with a focus on working with the media, message development and the policy-making process that defines the state's long-term care system. It is being held in Salem on Jan. 28 and 30 and costs $40.
