A candlelight vigil for the victims of the school shooting that took place in Newtown, Conn. Friday is scheduled at 6 p.m. today in Drake Park in Bend.
The vigil will be held in the pavilion area and will feature a moment of silence for the children and staff of Sandy Hook Elementary School who lost their lives in the tragedy. The vigil is being organized by Joshua Queen, the owner of a local public relations firm.
The Bend Park and Recreation District is helping with the effort, and only asks that candles not be used inside the pavilion due to the risk of fire.
