• Redmond golfer wins again for Linfield: Redmond’s Alex Fitch, a senior golfer for Linfield College in McMinnville, Sunday earned his fourth tournament victory dating back to last fall.
Among the top players nationally in NCAA Division III, Fitch carded a 4-over-par 72-76—148 and held off Linfield teammate Tyler Klopp by one stroke to win the eight-team Lutes Invitational at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash.
Fitch built a four-stroke cushion but struggled down the stretch by playing the final two holes at 3 over. His tournament-best 72 on Saturday helped Fitch weather the finish and lead him to his first win of the spring golf season.
Fitch, who won three tournaments in the fall season and was the Northwest Conference’s 2011 player of the year, also led Linfield to a team win in the tournament hosted by Pacific Lutheran University.
